Our dedicated team of groundskeepers and turf specialists employs a comprehensive and scientifically-backed approach to maintain our pitches and grounds to international standards.
1. Pitch Construction & Preparation:
- Soil Analysis & Composition: We utilize state-of-the-art soil testing to ensure the optimal blend of clay, silt, and sand, crucial for consistent pitch characteristics (e.g., pace, bounce, spin).
- Drainage Systems: Our venues are equipped with advanced subsurface drainage systems to swiftly remove excess water, ensuring play can resume quickly after rain and preventing waterlogging that can damage the pitch.
- Compaction & Rolling: Precise rolling techniques are applied before and during matches to achieve the desired pitch hardness and consolidate the surface, influencing pace and bounce.
- Grass Selection & Management: We select specific grass varieties known for their durability, resilience, and ability to withstand the rigors of cricket. Regular mowing, fertilization, and pest control are paramount.
- Moisture Content Control: Automated irrigation systems and manual monitoring ensure optimal moisture levels, critical for dictating how much the ball deviates or grips the surface.
2. In-Season Maintenance & Match Day Readiness:
- Daily Inspection & Repair: Our grounds team conducts daily checks for wear and tear, immediately addressing any scuff marks, indentations, or loose patches to maintain a smooth and even surface.
- Pre-Match Preparation: This involves precise watering, rolling, and marking of the pitch and boundaries according to official cricket regulations. The outfield is mown and prepared to ensure a fast and true ball roll.
- During-Match Maintenance: Breaks in play are utilized for light rolling and minor repairs, especially after a prolonged period of play or if weather conditions change.
- Post-Match Recovery: After each match, the pitch undergoes a recovery process, including aeration, top-dressing, and targeted watering, to repair damage and prepare it for future use.
3. Outfield Management:
